1 cup pure maple syrup (New Hampshire maple syrup is the best, of course)
Craft popsicle sticks
Portable hot liquid container
Optional: 1-2 TB butter
1. Prepare an area of fresh, clean, packed snow. (Kids can help with this part!)
2. Stirring, slowly bring the maple syrup (and optional butter for a more caramel flavor) to a boil. (This is a job for a grown-up)
3. When the syrup has bubbled to nearly double-size, remove from heat and use extreme caution when moving boiling liquid to the prepared snow area and pour in dollops or strips onto snow.(This is a job for a grown-up).
4. Use craft sticks to roll cooling syrup into tasty pop-treats!
This is a wonderful family activity for maple sugar season! Kids will love these syrupy delights! Learn more about maple syrup and the New Hampshire maple sugaring process on the NH Maple Sugar Season page!
