Visit a New Hampshire pumpkin patch and pick and array of pumpkin sizes and colors. Carving jack-o-lanterns is an obvious decorative touch, but don’t stop there! Paint your pumpkins (in bright, exciting colors), or wrap them in lace or ribbon! Carve out a notch for a candle, or create a classy, crystal-topped pumpkin with some decorative hardware!
With zombies, it’s all about the virus and creepy, reaching hands. Decorate your party with warning and contamination signs. Spatter windows with washable-blood and smeared handprints. Even make your own eerie masking tape zombie hand decorations!
Vampires are an ancient evil, so focus your décor on dusty vials and apothecary bottles. Use plastic vampire teeth on drinking glass rims and as napkin rings. And be sure to lay out some wooden stakes for emergencies, and make your own lovely garlic wreath!
Pumpkin lends itself to a wide variety of party foods both sweet and savory. Serve pumpkin dip, roasted pumpkin seeds, and pumpkin shaped dinner rolls. Crock pot pumpkin soup in a pumpkin makes an elegant, themed main course, and pumpkin cannoli and pumpkin cream cheese truffles make a great dessert. Take finger-foods to a whole new, gross-out level with easily-cut hot dog fingers, and stack your shrimp hors d’oeuvres into a bloody shrimp brain! Make your guests squirm with a bacon-wrapped monster meatloaf face, serve some tasty brain cupcakes for dessert! The right amount of green slime gives the zombie martini the perfect ick-factor!
Dip strawberries and pretzel “stakes” into flowing, blood fondue, slice up a slab of rose and garlic steak for dinner, and indulge in bloody candy apples or “bitten” cupcakes for dessert! The “Blood Drip” martini or Blood type tonics are a must have!
Pumpkin Bowling is much harder than it sounds—depending on the shape of your gourd!
Zombie Toss takes the classic “toss across” to a whole new, gruesome level!
