Sandpipers Seacoast Children’s Chorus to Perform Festive Spring Concert May 7th in Portsmouth

The Sandpipers Seacoast Children’s Chorus – an auditioned chorus for 9-16-year-old children of the N.H. seacoast – will perform a festive, multicultural musical program for its annual Spring Concert 2017 on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Middle Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth, N.H.

Led by Artistic Director Priscilla French and accompanied by pianist Rebecca Austin, the Prep Chorus and Sandpipers will perform a springtime program with several songs in foreign languages, including the Greek folksong “Samiotissa,” the Serbian gypsy dance song, “Niska Banja,” and the Hebrew song, “Al Shlosha d’Varim,” about world peace. The diverse program will include “Two Children’s Songs” by Randall Thompson, songs from the 1960’s musical “Oliver,” and the song “Fire,” inspired by a 13-year-old girl’s poetry.

“For decades, the Sandpipers Annual Spring Concert has been a favorite ‘rite of spring’ for seacoast music lovers,” says Artistic Director Priscilla French. “The talented Prep Chorus and Sandpipers are sure to delight audiences with this diverse and festive program derived from a range of cultures and musical genres.”

Suggested donations at the door of $10/general and $5/students and seniors are welcome.
