The talented New Hampshire Gay Men’s Chorus (NHGMC) is holding Open Auditions during the first three Tuesday evenings of January: January 3, 10, and 17.
The chorus seeks adult men over the age of 18 — gay, straight (gay-friendly), or adults who identify as male, who enjoy singing in a four-part, men’s TTBB harmony chorus.
All auditions are held at 6:30 pm at the First Congregational Church of Manchester, 508 Union Street. Rehearsal for NHGMC’s Spring 2017 concert series, “New Love – Lost Love – Old Love – True Love,” immediately follows from 7:00 to 9:30 pm.
Auditions are quick, private, and easy. You needn’t have any material or music prepared. It is an exercise in pitch matching to place your voice in the proper section. The ability to read music is helpful, but it is not a requirement for joining. Rehearsals repeat every Tuesday through the concert series in May.
NHGMC asks every member for $50 seasonal membership dues. Members are also asked to purchase a tuxedo to wear at most concert performances.
NHGMC, now in its 19th year, performs two concert series per year in four New Hampshire cities as well as many special outreach concerts. The chorus is highly respected all over the state and is the recipient of several written Commendations from New Hampshire governors and the mayors of New Hampshire cities. WMUR-TV’s New Hampshire Chronicle recently aired a delightful feature story on NHGMC and its 2016 holiday concert series.
If you don’t sing, NHGMC also welcomes volunteers (men and women) on its support staff. For more information on NHGMC, visit its website, www.nhgmc.com, or its Facebook page, www.facebook.com/nhgmc.
