Set in New York in the early 1950s, the story follows gambler Nathan Detroit and his associates as Nathan is looking for a place to run an undercover craps (dice) game, while trying to convince his showgirl fiancee of 14 years, Adelaide, that they will get married soon. He needs money to rent a place to play, and bets chronic gambler Sky Masterson $1,000 that Sky can’t win over the determined but conservative missionary Sarah Brown.
Sky negotiates a date with Sarah by agreeing to fill her upcoming prayer meeting with gamblers, which will save the mission. The story that unfolds is an iconic one full of gamblers and love, laughter, music and dance, and lots of heart.
