Event Details

Cynthia Nichols, biologist and NH Audubon volunteer, will tell us about the status of Bats in New Hampshire and present a Citizen Scientist project about Counting Summer Bat Colonies. Then we will go outside to see bats come out at dusk to forage for their evening meal and do a practice count ourselves! These bats eat up to half their weight in mosquitoes every summer night, so they are a big help to us; Now it’s our turn to help them in return! With the occurrence of White Nose Syndrome in New Hampshire, monitoring these colonies is more important than ever.
